Maroon Bells

Despite the cancellation of the Golden Leaf Half Marathon, the timing was perfect to have fresh snow on the mountains and the aspens at their peak color. I arrived early enough to enjoy the Maroon Bells under starlight, but I was not alone. Tripods had already been placed by others to secure their place, but not one person was around me. As sunrise approached, photographer after photographer trickled in until the shoreline was filled with cameras. This sunrise picture on the right side has been captured by thousands of individuals, but a fraction of those deviate from the prescribed place and time. There are still many places to explore in this world apart from the well-visited destinations.
